Purple and White wedding flowers at The Dower House Hotel

Wendy got married back in May last year. She came to see me for a consultation fairly clear on what flowers she wanted but having been to another florist she had been told not to have them. Now I am of the opinion it is the brides day and if what she wants is feasibly possible then that is what she has. Obviously if it unavailable or really won't work then advise should be given on alternatives. On this occasion all Wendy wanted was a mix of lisianthus (Eustoma) in purples, lilacs and white. Nothing out of the ordinary and easily achievable as you can see.
Lisianthus (Eustoma) are great if having a purple colour scheme as they are a true purple as against a pinky purple or blue purple as so many flowers are.
Back to Wendy's bouquet. This was a hand-tie design of a mix of lisianthus (Eustoma) with a salal foliage collar to add a little strength to the design. The stems were wrapped in purple satin ribbon.
For some reason I don't have photos of the bridesmaids or buttonholes but these were also a mix of lisianthus (Eustoma).
The reception was at The Dower House Hotel in Woodhall Spa. A lovely venue set back in it's own grounds.
The top table was a long and low with a mix of lisianthus (Eustoma) and foliage. Wendy really is a fan of this flower!
With Purple, purple and white two tone, lilac and white there is still some variety even though all the same flower.
The guest tables were small birdcages again filled with lisianthus.
Wendy wanted to keep the design fairly compact within the cage

A matching design in the entrance sideboard

The Dower House hotel all ready for the arrival of the bridal party.

Wedding Fayres 1st and 2nd March

This weekend is a busy one for me with two wedding fayres to attend.

Firstly I will be at The Isaac Centre Grantham on Saturday 10am - 4pm.

This is a new fayre for me and hope to see some lovely new brides. I get quite a few enquiries from Grantham so am really hoping to speak to lots of you in person.
If you are looking at booking your wedding flowers or just looking to hire some items for your reception come along and see what offers I have for you. Bookings still being taken for this year, availability dependent, and the book is open for 2015.

The second fayre is The Bailgate wedding fayre, one I have done now for the last few years twice a year.
I am as usual, in The Judges Lodgings in The Bailgate. A lovely venue for the smaller wedding. They can cater for receptions with limited numbers but I know brides who have had their service here then had a larger reception at The Old Palace, which will also be open with some fabulous suppliers in. (Amaranthyne wedding planning, Pictures to Treasure, Lincolnshire Lanterns to name a few)
With me will be Emma from Elegant Touches and Hines Photography and hopefully a few others.
I will again have some offers available on the day so whether you're looking for 2014 or 2015 come along and say hi.
Other venues taking part are The Lincoln hotel, The White Hart Hotel and Charlotte House. The Assembly rooms are also holding an open day.

The Lincs Wedding show

Yesterday's wedding fayre at The Grimsby Auditorium was a fantastic day. Very well attended with a good mix of suppliers to keep everyone happy. This added to a great layout meant brides and grooms had the chance of walking past everyone and kept the flow going.
Personally I think it was one of my best fayres with bookings taken and consults booked, if you are one of those brides I will be in touch very soon. If you spoke to me and left your details, again, I will be in touch.
I handed out so many leaflets and spoke to so many couples, I look forward to hearing from some of you soon.
As I was so busy I didn't really get to have a good look around myself but I did speak to Julie of Bon Appetite, Julian of Pictures to Treasure and the guys from All occasion Casinos. To see who else was there click here.

If you missed this fayre, don't worry I will be exhibiting in Grantham on Saturday 1st March and at The Lincoln Bailgate wedding fayre on Sunday 2nd March.

Do you wonder why flowers and roses in particular cost more on St Valentines day? Here is a quick explanation

I put my order of roses in back in January to get a good price for decent roses. I chose Red Naomi this year, a really good sized head with plenty of petals and slightly scented.

Green and Cream displays

This was Mayor making from last year with the reception held at The County Assembly Rooms in Lincoln.
We were asked, as always, to keep to the council colours of green and cream but were allowed to add a hint of another colour, we chose purple.
As this is on a tight budget and the room fairly large we increased the height of the displays with curly bamboo as a central feature. An anthurrium and shamrock chrysant were also added above the main design
to give the illusion of a larger display. The base of the display had roses, an anthurrium, stallion chrysants and purple September with large leaves.

The top table displays were of the same flowers but without the height.

The County Assembly Rooms all ready for the distinguished guests.

Purple Calla Lily wedding

Elaine's wedding flower was the Calla Lily. Her colours purple and Ivory. These gorgeous Vermeer Calla's with the purple throats and ivory edging and outside were perfect. To add in some colour she chose Schwartzwalder Callas. The bouquet style is an overarm spray with aspidistra leaves and bear grass with added gold pearls.
Her maids carried a smaller bouquet in a matching style with just Schwartzwalder Callas, aspidistra leaves and bear grass.
All stems were bound with ivory ribbon.
The ladies buttonholes were a calla as the main flower with cream spray roses and chrysant flower and loops of foliage.
The groom wore a Vermeer Calla with wax flower and foliage loops with purple wire bound around the stems. The other men wore a purple calla with different sprigs of flowers to match their ties.

Pink and white

This lovely pink and white wedding was from May. A mix of roses and freesia in white and eustoma and bridal gladioli in pink. Fountain grass added some movement to the design.
This was a small wedding with just the brides bouquet and a top table, long and low design.
