St Peter at Eastgate Church wedding flowers

Today we take a look at the beautiful church wedding of S & R.
They were married at the beautiful and busy St Peter at Eastgate church.
We were asked to provide flowers for the entrance including flowers for the gate and archway swell as designs for inside

We tied a couple of 'pew end' style bunches to the metal gate so when opened they hung close to the stone pillars.

The archway was hung delicately to the outside of the recess as fixings allowed. Our beautiful bay trees stood proudly either side the doorway to welcome guests to the ceremony.

It started to rain as we were setting up, always good when up a ladder, but once finished the sun came out (typical) and stayed fine and dry for the rest of the day.

Guests first look at the style of the day.

The beautiful archway was 10 gorgeous blousy ivory roses set amongst ruscus and passiflora foliage with a large organza bow central top.

Beautiful roses and an odd passiflora flower.

The gate flowers of eustoma, freesia, roses and herbs.

We also provided two traditional style pedestals, one for the back of the church

and one for the ceremony space at the front.
Mostly in ivory and yellow with a hint of lilac to add to the purple theme of the day.

It is a while since I have set up in here and in that time the pews have been replaced with chairs. Sad but it does enable the church to hold different functions within it, and talking to the warden, it has been a really successful undertaking.
Pew ends therefore are now on chairs.
We grouped roses, freesia and sol amongst Myrtle, Rosemary, Pistachio and ferns. All tied together with a small organza bow.

On alternate chairs was a larger ivory organza bow.

The brides eye view down the aisle.

The church smelt amazing when we left.

When you have an archway to do, help is required, and they insisted on taking all the photos while I set up and caught me in the act. So a rare action shot of me doing what I do!

The beautiful interior of tis amazing church.

Are you having a church wedding? Getting married in St Peter at Eastgate or another local church? We can style your flowers and aisle as you wish. We have many examples on here, just search labels - Church:.........

We are open to your ideas and love a challenge, we also are very aware of the fabric of the building and always seek permission to arrange anything to the actual building like archways.
We will happily discuss your designs with the vicar or wardens to talk through any fears they may have.

Please get in touch to discuss your church flower styling today

Holy Trinity Church Spilsby wedding decorations

J & L held their ceremony in the wonderful Holy Trinity Church Spilsby. Not a church we have visited before and it was a wonderful experience setting up. Not only is it beautiful inside but the band were warming up and rehearsing so we got a full rendition of some of the numbers the guests would be singing along to!

The pew ends were dressed with a combination of flowers and bows.
The flowers were a mix from the bridal bouquet (Which you can view here), blush rose, gyp, astrantia, wax flower and Dusty Miller and tied together with a lovely satin blush bow.

The bows were lovely blush organza, which make a gorgeous full bow and tails.

and the grooms view up the aisle.

A very simple way to dress your church but it does add a touch of your style and gives your guests a taste of what is to come.
These can also be taken away and used at your venue as chair back decorations or to hang on doors etc.

If you are having a church service, ask us how we can evolve your bouquet style to the church and dress your pews and possibly more.
See some other churches we have dressed by searching on the right labels under Church:

St Joseph's Church Retford

This is the lovely St Joseph's Church and Retford which was the setting for A and O's wedding a few weeks ago.
Continuing with the colours of pink and champagne (see bridal party flowers here) we created displays for the Altar and pews.

The Altar display was a front facing traditional style display of pink and champagne roses, cream stocks, carnations and wax flower.

We also created a traditional style church pedestal of a similar mix of flowers.

The pew ends were made up of a pink and champagne rose with pink spray roses and foliage. These were tied together with a small organza bow.

The pew displays were alternated with flowers and bows

A rare action shot of me as I had a helper on the day!

All these flowers were taken out of church and taken to the reception to be reused and displayed to the full.

If you are having a church ceremony please get in touch to see how we can style flowers to suit your theme/colours.
We work closely with the church and will sort all the delivery/set up direct with them so you don't have to.

St Mary's Minster Stow

Lauren's wedding service was at the gorgeous St Mary's at Stow. Dating back to at least 975 it is believed to have originated as the Mother church of Lincoln Cathedral. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.
As a Minster it is rather larger than your average local church but fortunately the main wedding service and guests are in one area.
We decided that two pedestals at the ceremony steps would be ideal and would break up the distance to the altar.
The pedestals were mainly the same flowers as the bridal bouquets with purple eustoma and September flower with Ivory roses, germini, astilbe, wax flower with cream chrysants.
The pew ends were a mix of flowers and bows with the flowers being three ivory germini, wax flower and tree fern.
Each pew end is slightly different as they are so old
and some have had to be replaced.

Church Flowers

Are you having a church wedding? Don't know where to start with flowers? Here's a few ideas to get you started.
The gate way to the church: If there are pillars outside these can be decorated with posies of flowers to greet your guests.
Most churches have archway doors but not all are suitable for decorating. Check with the church first, but if they allow it nothing makes a grander entrance than a garland of flowers. Finish this of with a bay tree either side and you have a perfect setting for photographs. This is is simple garland of foliage and roses, fuller designs are avalable.
Inside the best place to decorate are the pews. Whether you go for full posy styles or

smaller designs with a few flowers in them. They suit all pew designs and really brighten up the aisle.
You can alternate flowers with bows or have all flowers dependant on your budget.
Such a pretty sight, also adding scented flowers or foliage will be a lovely addition for you and your guests.
Another alternative is to mix the two and have full trailing bows with a single flower in the centre. This works well if you are having a colour scheme difficult to match with flowers.

There are plenty of options for flowers in church and the only limitation really is you and your budget. You can add candles in most arrangements which cast a warm glow once lit.
Lilies always work well as they are a fabulous showy flower and you don't need many to make a great display.

Pedestals can be placed at the altar, where you say your vows, at the back of the church or in the doorway. I find traditional pedestals work best.

Fonts can also be prettied up. Depending on where they are situated in the church, this one was near the door, depends on how you display flowers. This was an all round arrangement or garlands work too.

Windowsills shouldn't be left out if budgets allow. These were really narrow and difficult to make an arrangement on so lilies and seasonal hops were laid across the space.

Or for deeper windows a lager display can be designed.

Most brides I deal with are reluctant to have many flowers in church as the time spent in there is minimal to the cost. But most of these designs can be moved across to your reception with a little planning. Pedestals are fabulous for the ends of your top table, pew ends can be laid across the front of the top table or hung on the backs of chairs. Window displays can be moved to other windows or fireplaces.
