Civil Ceremony Flower Ideas

Are you having a civil service? Her's a few ideas to decorate your chosen room.
Most of my lovely brides chose a traditional long and low for the registrars table. These work well s they are a focus for the front of the room and won't get in your registrars way.

The top two are at Branston Hall.
This combination is also popular if there is room. A long and low with a single, or duel (as below), pedestal.
Both of these are at Charlotte House.
 At The Epic centre.

An autumn display at Hemswell court on their lower table.
A different idea of two posies at The Judges Lodgings.
It is also good to work with the features of the room. Use a fireplace or mantlepiece adding displays for extra colour.

 Two more long and lows.
How about getting married under an archway. Just because you are getting married indoors doesn't mean you have to be conventional. This was at Elsham Hall.
Bay trees can be placed at doorways or to line a walkway or behind the table.

 Mantlepiece design.
Fishbowls can be used for a simple design.
Or a flat cylinder design as a modern posy.

All of these designs can be moved to your reception and usually the lovely staff at your venue will oblige.

Church Flowers

Are you having a church wedding? Don't know where to start with flowers? Here's a few ideas to get you started.
The gate way to the church: If there are pillars outside these can be decorated with posies of flowers to greet your guests.
Most churches have archway doors but not all are suitable for decorating. Check with the church first, but if they allow it nothing makes a grander entrance than a garland of flowers. Finish this of with a bay tree either side and you have a perfect setting for photographs. This is is simple garland of foliage and roses, fuller designs are avalable.
Inside the best place to decorate are the pews. Whether you go for full posy styles or

smaller designs with a few flowers in them. They suit all pew designs and really brighten up the aisle.
You can alternate flowers with bows or have all flowers dependant on your budget.
Such a pretty sight, also adding scented flowers or foliage will be a lovely addition for you and your guests.
Another alternative is to mix the two and have full trailing bows with a single flower in the centre. This works well if you are having a colour scheme difficult to match with flowers.

There are plenty of options for flowers in church and the only limitation really is you and your budget. You can add candles in most arrangements which cast a warm glow once lit.
Lilies always work well as they are a fabulous showy flower and you don't need many to make a great display.

Pedestals can be placed at the altar, where you say your vows, at the back of the church or in the doorway. I find traditional pedestals work best.

Fonts can also be prettied up. Depending on where they are situated in the church, this one was near the door, depends on how you display flowers. This was an all round arrangement or garlands work too.

Windowsills shouldn't be left out if budgets allow. These were really narrow and difficult to make an arrangement on so lilies and seasonal hops were laid across the space.

Or for deeper windows a lager display can be designed.

Most brides I deal with are reluctant to have many flowers in church as the time spent in there is minimal to the cost. But most of these designs can be moved across to your reception with a little planning. Pedestals are fabulous for the ends of your top table, pew ends can be laid across the front of the top table or hung on the backs of chairs. Window displays can be moved to other windows or fireplaces.

Wedding fayres

I will be attending two wedding fayres in the near future so save these dates to your diary.

24th February Wedcraft at The Lincolnshire showground. This is going to be different from the normal fayre with all exhibitors being asked to base there displays around vintage or DIY. There will be DIY wedding inspiration with some workshops and demonstrations. It is free to attend but booking is essential. Click here to book your complimentary tickets.

3rd March The Bailgate wedding fayre. This is a fabulous fayre to attend with most of the venues in the area open for you to view. Those taking part are:
Castle Hotel   Lincoln Hotel   White Hart Hotel   Charlotte House Hotel   The Old Palace Hotel
Lincoln Castle   Cathedral Centre   Judges Lodgings   Assembly Rooms
I shall hopefully be in The Judges Lodgings where I have been before, but yet to be confirmed. Come along and see some stunning flowers along with fabulous venues and loads of fantastic suppliers.

10th March Belton House wedding fayre. I shall be providing flowers for an exciting new wedding package available for Belton House and a few other venues. Details yet to be finalised, but it is worth waiting for! Keep an eye out for details. Unfortunately as this falls on Mothering Sunday I shall be unable to attend myself as I shall, hopefully, be a busy bee and making lots of mums happy with flower deliveries. There will be plenty of information available on the day from other suppliers involved.
The fayre is free to attend but normal admittance fees apply for the house and gardens. Click here for details.

A real Wedding: An all white affair

All these images are provided by Patrick at Natural Expressions Photography.
The gorgeous all white bridal bouquet with added diamantes. This was a mix of roses, spray roses, ranunculus, freesia and double eustoma.

The bridesmaids carried a similar mixed bouquet to the bride.

Roses, ranunculus, spray roses and eustoma.

Gill looking stunning.
The white theme was carried on all through the church displays.

The bridal party arriving at church.

Once the service is over it is easy to simply move the church designs over to the reception.

The very happy couple.

Another gorgeous white display for the top table.

Thank you to Gill and Rich for choosing me to design their flowers and for allowing me to share them with you.
Thanks also to Patrick for the use of these images.

Judges Lodgings wedding fair

This was last years Bailgate wedding fayre where I exhibited in The Judges Lodgings.
This is a great fayre to attend as most of the venues in the area are open for you to view and talk to the staff, allowing you to compare each one. Each has its own strength giving brides a range of options in a fabulous location.
An overarm bouquet of mango calla lily, cream ostrich feathers and black tie leaves.
A hand-tie bouquet of ivory roses, teasels, cones, lavender and rosemary.
Tied with a lovely green spotted ribbon.

I am attending the next Bailgate wedding fayre on 3rd March and have asked to be in The Judges Lodgings again but have yet to have this finalised.

Simply Gerberas

Jessica asked for simple wedding flowers based purely around gerberas. As it was a really relaxed wedding and in her words 'we have put most of the budget into a the wedding venue' it also had to be good budget wise.
The bride was wearing a burgundy wedding dress and so her choice of white gerberas was excellent. Now nothing is simpler than a bouquet made up of just one flower, and against her dress these would really stand out. The stems were wrapped in the same material as her dress.
The two little bridesmaids each carried a very small bouquet of 3 yellow gerberas tied with ivory ribbon to go with their daisy dresses.
A couple of the ladies wore a single white gerbera attached to ivory satin ribbon to wear on their wrists.
All the buttonholes were gerberas with foliage.

Jessica had bought some glass bowls and wanted to float some gerberas in them. I provided these and at Jessica's request got these bright two tone coloured geberas to give colour to the tables.
