White wedding bouquets

Thursday means it is colour day!
Today we look at white or ivory bouquets.
Maybe you have lots of colour going on with the dresses or venue, or you just like everything neutral, then keeping your flowers white will appeal to you.

The most asked after bouquets this year have been gyp. Not all florists love it but I do. It goes with all types of style and colours of your maids and is perfect for a civil ceremony.
We can add in different wraps/ribbons to suit the style from hessian, lace or satin ribbon and silks.

Whether you go for the beat round posy (above) or a more domed wild effect is up to you.

Add in ribbon trails to highlight on darker dresses

or add in foliage trails and thistles for the bride.

Gyp is a great addition to another single flower, take this gorgeous white hydrangea, surround it with a cloud of gyp for a fuller design for a bride

and a little less gyp for the maids.

A few blooms arranged laid above each other is a great cost effective way to gain a larger bouquet. These cute bloom chrysants with trailing foliage and tied with a lovely large satin bow are excellent with a sheath style dress

The classic rose will always be in fashion.
Use it on its own with foliage, folded aspidistra leaves

or soft cuscus

salal, rosemary and fern

or just with jewels to add sparkle to your day.

Add in some detail with folded lops of foliage and diamante

or pearl pins and gold wire collar.

Roses and freesia are another classic combination, perfect for an all white design and loaded with scent too.

Lilies may not be everyones favourite flower but they are pure white and do look fabulous teamed with roses. All stamens are removed before handover.

Calla lilies are another fabulous flower for an all white affair.
Either in a layered posy with bear grass loops

or as an overarm laid above each other with bear grass trails. (same flower/foliage different design)

Add in larger leaves for a dramatic effect

or double layer and add in sparkle around the tie.

Posies don't have to be large, 6 calla make perfect size for your maids

a few more for the bride

Another lily design for your maids, simple and light to carry, and packed with scent - perfect for a budget conscious wedding.

Gerberas - another love or hate flower and another of my favourites. Lots of gorgeous colours available but stunning in white too.

On their own or with foliage they do work perfectly on their own. Both black and white centred varieties available.

Love daisies? Another flower that looks fabulous en masse. A lovely idea for maids for a country themed day.

Gerbera, roses and gyp

or gerbera, viburnum, hyacinths, freesia and foliage, pick a central themed flower through your designs and pick one or two for the maids and buttonholes.

Tulips are fabulous when in season. Single, double and Parrot version available in white.

Lovely as a posy on their own or add in wire and beads for a stylish look.

Don't forget the humble carnation. These are usually scented and come in white, ivory and creams so can be mixed in with all other flowers.

An unusual combination of hydrangea, lily, gerbera and roses.

Calla, lily and roses in a teardrop design for a more traditional wedding.

A full shower bouquet, perfect for a traditional church wedding. Lilies, roses, and freesia - beautiful scented bouquet.

Another shower design of lily, roses, freesia and orchids

A more structured shower of roses and orchids

Or how about roses, calla, eustoma and freesia?

A lovely posy mix of ranunculus, bouvardia, freesia, roses and gyp, perfect for a winter wedding.

Roses, ranunculus, freesia, spray roses and eustoma with added sparkle, another late spring design.

For summer think lily, veronica, eustoma, freesia, and blushing bride protea with foliage

A winter design of berries, gerbera and roses

An autumn design of gerbera roses and freesia and dark blue feathers

Or for summer try roses, freesia, eustoma and gyp

or a lovely green and ivory design  with lots of added sparkle and lace.

Whatever season or style of day, white flowers have their place. Don't fight venues that are colourful, keep your designs neutral. Or if your bridesmaids really don't fit one colour then choose colours to compliment them and leave your bouquets neutral. Flowers should bring the different elements of your day together, make lots of different aspects flow together.
White flowers are a true classic and always look fashionable. Whereas other colours come in and go out white is here to stay.
